At Paws Crossed Animal Rescue, we believe that compassion has the power to change lives — both human and animal. That’s why we are proud to partner with The Arc Westchester, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.

Each week, participants from The Arc Westchester visit our Adoption Center to spend time with our cats. They bring smiles, and gentle voices, creating a unique and heartwarming program: Reading to Cats.

This simple act has a big impact. Our cats, many of whom may be shy or adjusting to a new environment, are comforted by the calm and soothing presence of their new friends. The steady rhythm of reading helps them relax, build trust, and feel more at ease around people — which ultimately helps them get ready for their forever homes.

For The Arc Westchester participants, the program provides meaningful engagement, connection, and the joy of making a difference. It’s a wonderful way to share their love of animals while building confidence and community.
