Our Core Values

As we close out 2025 and reflect on a decade of saving lives together, our theme for this year’s campaign is 10 Years Together. For this year's email blasts we are doing something a little different. Most people know our mission statement - "Rescue One By One Until There Are None", but many may not know our core values. These values guide every decision we make and every life we save. Throughout this campaign, we will highlight each of our core values and share how we live them every single day.

Holiday Kid's Crafts!

Peanut Butter & Oat No-Bake Holiday Dog Cookies

Ingredients: 1 cup rolled oats (use gluten-free if needed) 1/2 cup natural peanut butter (no xylitol or added sugar) 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce or mashed banana 1/4 cup finely shredded carrots (optional) 1-2 tablespoons water (if needed, to bind) Instructions: Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine oats, peanut butter, applesauce (or banana), and carrots. Stir until well combined. Add water a little at a time if the mixture is too dry to hold together. Shape the Treats: Roll the mixture into small balls or press it into fun holiday shapes, such as snowflakes, gingerbread people, or snowmen - the possibilities are endless! Set: Place the treats on a plate or tray lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours to firm up. Decorate the Treats Carob Chip Decorations: Use carob chips to create fun details like eyes, buttons, or patterns on the shapes. The carob chips can be placed on the treats while still slightly moist so they adhere better. Yogurt Drizzle: Spoon a small amount of unsweetened yogurt into a zip-top bag. Snip a tiny corner off the bag and drizzle yogurt over the treats to create frosty patterns. Let the yogurt set completely before serving. Store: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage. Tips: Always check that peanut butter is free of xylitol, a sweetener that is toxic to dogs. Customize by adding small amounts of dog-safe extras like unsweetened coconut flakes or pumpkin puree. Make the treats small for training rewards or larger for a special snack. Adjust the size of the cookie to fit your dog's size. Smaller dogs might need smaller treats. You might want to refrigerate your mixture for a little bit for firmness, before rolling out and shaping your treats

Decorative Pet Collars

Materials Needed: Ribbon (measure your pet’s neck size, leaving enough for a comfortable fit and a secure knot or clasp) Felt (in various colors for flowers or shapes) Fabric glue or non-toxic glue Beads, buttons, or tiny bells Scissors Optional: Velcro, snaps (for adjustable or secure closures) Step-by-Step Instructions: Measure the Ribbon/Felt: Wrap the ribbon/felt around your pet’s neck to determine the length needed. Add an extra 2–3 inches to allow for tying a knot or attaching a clasp. Cut the ribbon to size. Prepare Decorations: Cut festive shapes out of felt, such as snowflakes, snowmen, stars, presents or anything you’d like! Lay out beads, buttons, or bells to decide how you’d like to arrange them on the ribbon/felt. Attach Decorations: Use fabric glue to attach felt shapes, beads, buttons, or bells onto the ribbon/felt. Allow the glue to fully dry before moving on. Create a Closure: For a simple closure, tie the ends of the ribbon/felt in a bow when placing it on your pet. For a more secure fit, glue Velcro or snaps onto the ends of the ribbon/felt. Test the Fit: Gently place the collar on your pet, ensuring it’s snug but not tight. You should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and your pet’s neck. Adjust as needed to ensure comfort and safety. Final Check: Make sure all decorations are securely attached and won’t fall off during wear. Supervise your pet while they wear the collar to ensure they don’t chew or swallow any pieces!

Pet Paw Print Ornaments

Materials Needed: Non-toxic clay or air-dry clay (safe for pets) Rolling pin Cookie cutter (choose a shape: circle, square, star, etc.) Ribbon (for hanging) Hole punch or a small tool to make a hole Optional: Acrylic paint, glitter, or other decorations for personalizing your ornament Instructions: Roll Out the Clay Take a piece of clay and knead it for a few seconds to soften it. Use the rolling pin to flatten the clay to about 1/4 inch thickness. This ensures it’s sturdy enough to hold the paw print without breaking. Cut the Ornament Shape Press your cookie cutter firmly into the clay to cut out the desired shape (circle, star, heart, etc.). Remove the excess clay around the edges and gently lift the cut-out shape from the surface. Create the Paw Print Position your pet’s paw over the clay. Gently press their paw into the clay, ensuring the print is clear and detailed. Avoid applying too much pressure to keep it comfortable for your pet. If needed, you can lightly press the edges of the paw to emphasize the toes or pad shapes. Make a Hole for the Ribbon Use a hole punch or a small tool (like a straw or skewer) to create a hole near the top of the ornament. This will be where the ribbon goes for hanging. Let the Ornament Dry Place the ornament in a safe spot to dry. Follow the drying time recommended on your clay package (usually 24–48 hours for air-dry clay). Ensure it is completely dry and hardened before moving on to the next step. Decorate Once the ornament is dry, you can decorate it with acrylic paint, glitter, or whatever you like! Personalize it with your pet's name or the year if desired. Let any decorations or paint dry completely. Attach the Ribbon Cut a piece of ribbon (6–8 inches long). Thread it through the hole you made earlier and tie it in a knot or bow. Display Your Ornament Hang your finished paw print ornament for everyone to see! Tips: If your pet is nervous, try distracting them with a treat or toy while you take their paw print. Wash your pet’s paw immediately after pressing it into the clay to ensure no residue is left behind. Store unused clay in an airtight container to keep it from drying out.
