Reading to Rover

Reading to Rover.jpg

Reading to Rover is a new innovative program in which children read to trained and registered therapy dogs.

Reading to Rover is not only fun for the children but it builds confidence, enthusiasm, and reading proficiency!

This program is completely FREE and open to children of all ages and reading abilities.

Each session is roughly 15 minutes long and we encourage (but don't require) children to come back on a weekly basis.

And please... space is extremely limited, so if you cannot make your session, please let us know so that another reader can have a spot!  THANK YOU!

 Dates Coming Soon!

All dogs have gone through the R.E.A.D. (The Reading Education Assistance Dogs) program. This program improves children's reading and communication skills by employing a powerful method: reading to a dog - but not just any dog. R.E.A.D. dogs are trained, tested, registered, liability-insured therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handlers as a team, going to schools, libraries and many other settings as reading companions for children.
This particular R.E.A.D. dog, Chickpea, happens to have been adopted from our very facility by a wonderful volunteer, Ruthanne!
